In the space of two years nine different people – among them a scientist, a composer, a hotel manager and a student – were visited and their desks were mapped in their normal circumstances between two appointments or during a break.

For weeks in the depot of the Stadtmuseum Tübingen the areas and corridors were explored, selected shelves were drawn and a fascinating order of the things were discovered, to which so far nobody gave attention: There is less the hoarded objects in the shelf, which captivated him, than rather their protrusions, the remains of the things thus, which could not be made quite adapted for the even beat of the shelf rows.

Diagrams of city ideals of the 19th and 20th century which represented an ideal conception of urban space in that time form the basis of the drawings of the series. The respective scheme is mirrored along the horizontal and vertical axes, so that it multiplies itself into a pattern. Thereby the formalism particular to the original sketches transforms the drawings into a multiple repeat.
